Contract and Bargaining
Negotiations on the first collective bargaining agreement (CBA) between the United Faculty of Florida - State College of Florida Chapter (UFF-State College) and the State College of Florida at Manatee-Sarasota (SCF). Copies of proposals from both sides will appear on this page as soon as possible after they have been made public at the bargaining table. A synopsis of the proceedings will also appear below.
Tentative Agreements ("TAs") are just that - tentative. Once both sides agree on a particular article or section of the Collecgtive Bargaining Agreement ("CBA") they sign the final language for that section and it becomes part of the eventual CBA. However, they are tentative in that they have no affect until agreement is reached on the entire CBA. Once all TAs are completed, and a final CBA is compiled, both the faculty and the Board of Trustees must vote to ratify the final agreement. The CBA becomes official upon ratification by both sides.
The UFF-State College bargaining team includes Bieselin,Jennifer, William Culver, Hyun Kim, Dennis Runde. The lead negotiator, Michael Moats, is Service Unit Director for Central and South Florida with the United Faculty of Florida who has also negotiated contracts at Eastern Florida State College (formerlly Brevard), SCF State College, and Hillsborough Community College, and assisted/consulted at Florida State College Jacksonville, Broward College, University of South Florida, University of Central Florida, Florida Gulf Coast University, Florida Atlantic University, and New College of Florida.
The Administration's team includes Mike Mattimore and Jason Vail of Allen Norton & Blue law firm, Julie Jackway, VP, Finance and Administrative Services as lead, Steven W. Prouty, General Counsel, Deans Ryan Hale, Michael Kiefer and Daisy Vulovich, and HR Director Jennifer LaHurd.
All faculty are encouraged to make their concerns known to the UFF-State College bargaining team, committee, and/or chapter leadership so they may represent your interests in the best way possible.
The UFF team recently conducted an initial interest suurvey of the faculty from which more focused surveys will follow. The follow-up surveys will usually be 10-15 questions each focusing on specific topics which were identified by faculty as important. It is important that faculty watch their email and take a few minutes to complete each survey as they appear.
